Course Information
After sucessfully staging the showcase Honda LPGA Thailand 2007 at it’s Old Course, Siam Country Club launched it’s new 27-hole golf course, called Siam Country Club Pattaya Plantation, in a property 6 km. near by. The three new 9-hole plantation courses (A, B & C), fittingly named Sugar Cane, Tapioca, and Pineapple, are designed by Arizona based Schmidt-Curley Design Inc. The stunning 27-hole layout features highest quality “Novotek” ultradwarf Bermuda greens, “Seashore Paspalum” fairways; with ground covers such as Red Fountain grass, Love grass and Yellow Peanut grass are widely planted and blended into native grasses and trees of natural surrounding, to help make the landscape an impeccable beauty. The unique“Triple Greens”, with 3 greens connected together over 3,000 square meters on course B-C, is one of many hightlight features.
Siam Country Club Pattaya Plantation recently hosted Honda LPGA Thailand 2009 tournament, won by world number one Lorena Ochoa; a must-play course for every golfers visiting Pattaya.
Facility
A unique architectural “Bird Wings” clubhouse sets on the top of the hill, with views of the golf course and its surrounding undulated terrains can be seen from almost every corner. “easygolfbooking.com” recommends C2 (2nd hole on Pineapple course) as a must play hole at Siam Country Club Pattaya Plantation.
This picturesque par 5 provides an all round challenge to test golfers on every aspects of the game. The hole extends a challenging 566 yards from the Championship (Blue) tee, or a respectable 537 yards from the regular white tee.
Golfer needs to steer tee-shot well clear of large trees cluster lining left-side of the lushed Paspalum fairway, or avoid going into sand bunkers on the right. The follow-on shot is a straightforward lay-up shot, avoiding the only bunker on the left.
The challenge and excitement of this hole is the approach shot on to a tight elevated & slicked green, well guarded by numerous sand bunkers. Pin placement on the uplifted green, and occasional strong breeze, make correct club selection critical.
Its best to target the ball short of the flag, and aims for an uphill one-putt for a rewarding birdie, or a satisfying par. Whatever the outcome, take your time on this scenic hole and appreciate the breathtaking view all round.
