Course Information
Thai Country Club, voted “Best Course in Thailand 2001-2005” by Asian Golf Monthly Awards, is every golfer’s dream. Designed under US PGA international standards by Denis Griffiths, and opened for play in December 1996. The design adapts to everyday member use up to a very tough challenge for major international tournaments featuring the finest players in the world. The 7,157-yard course, from the professional tees, was tested during the 1997 Asian Honda Classic won by Tiger Woods. The 18-hole, par 72, course lay-out lies gently undulating and mounded; it flows past flowering trees and shrubs, with a sea breeze off the Gulf of Siam whispering through the palm trees. Manicured beyond belief, you can be sure of a perfect lie on the Paspalum grass fairways, and the rough is reasonable. All the hazards are visible, from splashes of scalloped white sand to attractive lakes.
So, whether you play from the back tees for 7,157 yards, or prefer a more leisurely round at 6,147 yards from the white tees, the “ultimate golfing experience” is waiting for you.

Facility
Voted “Best Clubhouse in Asia 2000-2005”; the club is managed by the Peninsula Hotels group, and their experience of providing a luxurious lifestyle is apparent throughout. The facilities and service will stand comparison anywhere in the world, whether in the elegant, panoramic restaurant, the members’ bar or the superb spa locker rooms with sauna, steam rooms, hot pool, massage and individual marble jet therapy showers. The pro-shop is comprehensive and the caddies immaculate.

How to get there
Thai Country Club is conveniently located on the way to Pattaya, at Km. 35.5 on the Bangna-Trad highway (out-bound); approximately 60 min. from downtown Bangkok, or 30 min. from the new airport, via the elevated expressway’s Exit 4-05.

Signature Hole

“easygolfbooking.com” recommends hole #6, voted “Best Par 3 in Asia 2001-2003” , as a must play hole at Thai Country Club.

The longest par 3 on the course, 170-230 yards from white-black tee, also plays against the prevailing wind. It requires a confident drive to allow most golfers to navigate this beautiful, yet often punishing hole.

The danger lies in the water guarding the entire right side of the fairway, making it essential for those prone to slicing, to keep their shot left; the contours may feed your ball onto the green. Too much to the left, however, and you may find one of the deep hollows. Other hazards include the presence of giant bunker below the sloping green, which if anything, will prevent errant drives from getting wet.

When Thai Country Club hosted the 1997 Asian Honda Classic, this deceiving hole was found to be the most difficult on the course with 3.38 stroke average.

Come and conquer Thai Country Club’s hole #6 , and enjoy golfing with “easygolfbooking.com”.
